Ohio

We recently (OK, almost a month ago) went to a family wedding in Cincinnati. Princess Charming's dad's family lives out there, so we loaded up the Subaru with snacks and my sister in law and her boyfriend, and headed out for the 11 hour drive. (sidebar: I really, really hate road trips. Give me a plane anyday.)

Thanks to some diligent research on the behalf of persons other than myself (as I am most interested in ending the time on the road), we took a couple of side excursions (which DID make the drive out seem faster than the straight-through drive back, I admit!)

I can't believe June is just about over...

What a quick month of weekends.
Our prom style photo from Greg & Jenny's wedding!

a quick trip to Santa Barbara, CA for me with the U23 All Stars
Staying 1/2 mile from the beach isn't too bad...
Then another wedding...
and another "prom" photo!
And this past weekend, I went to play some sevens...a second place finish, and a reminder that I.am.slow. But that I still want to play 15s this fall. A success, I suppose, if not for my time and wallet!

In other news, our house isn't sold (shocker) despite continual good feedback, and our listing agreement is up this month, but more on that in a different post.

another one bites the dust

Of the handful of HS friends I am still in touch with, just a couple are not married yet. Last weekend, two of my former band-mates tied the knot. Since it was Christmas weekend, I went alone since Princess Charming was in St. Louis with her family and I was meeting them in Colorado (in retrospect, we should have sprung for the extra plane tickets for me to go to StL for Christmas, and her to come to the wedding, but oh well).

What a lovely wedding...and lucky weather, given the surrounding days - 40 and sunny!

I have an obsession.

Several actually.
Google reader is a problem.

It lets me indulge my feminist "they're out to get us and we must fight back" side.

It keeps me in the loop on the growing train wreck that is the election. And Sarah Palin, who I'm mildly obsessed with.

It lets me spend too long looking at items for the wedding and reception I am having (ok sort of) and the wedding(s) I would have if I was given $50,000 with serious strings attached (eg, could only spend on the wedding itself).

Maybe after the festivities are over I'll try some of the recipes I've been ignoring.

(P.S. Woj, this is for you.)

oh, prom

I had an interesting discussion with an old friend last night, who was lamenting the fact that the majority of her friends have gone from single to married/otherwise seriously involved in the past two years. While that's only about 50% true (and hence more of a perception), my arguement that its not a factor of said friends 'changing' but a factor of the fact that said friends are in their mid-20s+ fell on deaf ears.

Anyway, the less frustrating part of the conversation turned to her randomly running into my HS prom (and date-night) date at some corporate drinks event. Appearently he's going to Harvard Business School next year and got married recently. And I saw this card on Postsecret this morning, and kind of want to send it to him to see if he knew. But I don't have his email (and haven't seen the guy in 8 years, aside from 5 min at the Thanksgiving football game a couple years back), so obviously I can't. Oh well :)

can't say it better

than Katy

I downloaded and cropped my photos as a writing break last night. Tonight, the upload. You have no idea how much restraint this requires.
