kitchen complete

We finally "finished" the kitchen a month or two ago with the addition of the kick plates under the cabinets. Since that took 18 months or so, it is only reasonable I wait a while to update the blog.

It's not the most impressive kitchen in the world, but it's what we could do without moving an entire bathroom, stairwell, or losing a bedroom. So some (fabulous cell phone) before/afters...

The view from the back door...

Before....

After,  complete with sippies on the drying rack and lunch bags on the counter.
You can just see the fridge in the right hand side of this photo. The kitchen didn't HAVE a fridge before - here's the wall where it is now...

There's a small pantry on the hall side of the fridge (opposite where I am standing in the top "now" photo, visible on the left of the (off kilter) "now" photo below).

Here is the view from the hall before:

And Now (I can't be bothered to clean for photos apparently. Sorry internet).

As a bonus, remember that door (three photos up) to the back porch. It's gone, as is the door to the stairs leading upstairs to it's left. Here's a preview...

more on that later...

In summary (besides that I need better photos to document our "new" kitchen):

  1. tell me about the toddler proofing you have going on your cabinets there--is that a wipe board to deflect interest from the cabinet?? also, very nicely done! I am so impressed by anyone who can do this sort of thing.

  2. It looks really good! I love seeing a blog kitchen that isn't all white cabinets and marble counters- nice job!
